What do Cub Scouts do?

Welcome to Mill Valley Pack 34!  We are your local Cub Scout Pack serving boys and girls ages K-5th Grade.  Cub Scouts is fun!

Our Pack is part of Marin Council of Scouts BSA.  The Council is fortunate enough to own two camps and facilities that we use on a regular basis: Camp Tamarancho in Fairfax, CA and Marin Sierra in Nevada City, CA.  Our pack typically does Fall, Winter, and Spring camping in these camps where we hike, tent, fish, watch the stars, perform skits, and roast s'mores on an open campfire.

Throughout the year we do community service outreach like Scouting for Food (we collect canned goods for the Marin Food Bank), Scoutbox Produce (benefits Star Route Farms), beach cleanup days, and Memorial Day flag planting at the Presidio.

There are Rain or Shine hikes on Tam, real rocket launches, and our signature event -- Pinewood Derby -- where Scouts design, build, and race their own wooden cars.  In your Den meetings, you'll also learn practical life skills like first aid, emergency preparedness, leadership, and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.  We always try to mix up learning with some games to make it interesting and enjoyable for parents and kids alike.

Cub Scouts is not a drop off activity.  Parents stay and take an active role in what we do.  It's a great way to meet other parents of similar-aged children.  Boys and girls are grouped into dens of similarly aged Scouts.  Dens meet approximately 1x month, and the entire Pack gathers the first Wednesday of each month at Scout Hall in Mill Valley.

Welcome to the Pack!  Any questions or if you would like to get involved as a parent, please contact cubmaster@mvpack34.org.
