Rafting Trip This Weekend! September 16-17

Ahoy Rafters!

Please look for your name below. An outing this size takes a group effort so we've delegated various tasks. We all know the more you participate, the more you feel connected to the group. Thank you in advance.

SAFETY: I cannot stress the importance of safety enough. The campsite is near the river so we can do some swimming but children SHOULD NOT BE UNATTENDED ANYWHERE NEAR THE RIVER. We'll be wearing life jackets during the rafting so that is not a problem but please make sure your children understand. Also as with all scouting events NO ALCOHOL, SMOKING or TOBACCO USE.

Directions to Whitewater Adventures are here.

Saturday Arrival

People will be arriving in the afternoon/evening on Saturday. Doug Gelbach will be one of the first so call him at 415-310-1084 if you're lost.

Where: We will likely be in the Upper campground closest to the parking lot. Park in the main parking area and find out where we are camping.

Raft: Sunday, 10AM. After breakfast we'll pack up camp so we are ready to drive home as soon as we arrive back after the rafting.

Camp site info:

Bring your own tent and sleeping gear. If you have a large, tent please share with other families. Remember the BSA policy, a Scout can not sleep in a tent with another adult unless his parent is present.

Since the fire danger is "Very High" now, no fires will be allowed. We will be able to bring up self contained propane stoves and grills.

Activities

The camp itself has a lot to do. The kids will be able to participate in the activities around the camp using the buddy system. Each scout should have a buddy with them at all times. NO SWIMMING WITHOUT ADULTS PRESENT.

Purchase food: (Gelbach to make Costco run) Pack will provide all food and drink.

Dinner: (Chef's: Jennings, Gimore, Rubens) Dinner ready around 6pm. Hot dogs and sausages, chips, can corn, condiments, 5 gallon tank of lemonade.

Important: Please have your scout bring his mess kit and silverware. If he doesn't have one, you should buy one at the scout store or REI. This is a great time for him to learn how to put it together, use it, and clean it after eating.

Dinner Clean up (Treais, Immethun) Pack will supply the three tubs of cleaning solutions.

Dessert: S'mores, pack will purchase the items.

Night time story, songs, jokes, and riddle telling: Dave LaDuke to organize. Anyone can bring their favorite joke, story, or riddle to tell all.

Breakfast (Chefs: Zanze, Kline, Starkey) Bacon, pancakes Cereal, milk, OJ, fruit, coffee

Breakfast clean up (Lightner, Thelander): Sunday lunch provided on the river by the raft company.

Pack up camp: We should pack up camp and load our cars after breakfast. When we come back from rafting (3-4pm or so) we can just get in our cars and head home.
