Tiger Team,
Lots going on this Saturday. Come to one or all events!
- Blue and Gold Dinner Saturday, Feb 3 at 6PM at Scout Hall is the Blue & Gold Dinner. This event is catered. It is a lot of fun! Please rsvp to rsvp@mvpack34.org. At the dinner we'll hand out pinewood derby cars and See's chocolate bars. The latter are for candy sales (see below).
- Bus stop cleaning - Saturday, Feb 3 at 2PM meet at the bus stop at Miller and Montford Avenue, in front of Taco Joes. Bring Latex gloves, Sponges, Windex, Simple Green, Paper towels, Water, Buckets. We'll have it looking spic & span by 3PM. Boys get patches for this effort.
- Cake baking contest - We need an entry for the cake baking contest. Any bakers willing to step forward? If we could get a blank cake to the bus stop, with frosting and decorations, the boys could work on it after finishing work at the bus stop. The cake will be dessert at the Blue & Gold dinner.
- Skit - at the bus stop we can get the kids to brainstorm on the skit, which will be performed at the Blue & Gold dinner. I propose the theme "Bigfoot Chase".
- Presidential fitness - Saturday, Feb 3 at 10AM we will have a last-minute Presidential fitness meet. Please bring your cub! Current fitness results are here: <http://www.mvpack34.org/files/tiger_presfitness06.xls> Even if your cub only does one event, they get a participant patch.
- Candy sales - we will be selling the chocolate bars in front of one of Mill Valley's popular shopping destinations (TBD) on Saturday, Feb 10. This takes an our or two and I've found it to be very educational - much more so that I thought before actually doing it. More details at the Blue and Gold Dinner!
That's about it. I hope to see all of you on Saturday.
Best,
Dave

Webelos 2-Manzanita
Supplies:
-Latex gloves

You should also have a skit prepared and a cake for the Cake contest.
These are other great opportunities to catch up on the many requirements for bridging.
You also need to forward Pres. Fitness number to Kerrywhuffman at yahoo dot com.
Remind your parents to bring two checks to the dinner, one for Friends of Scouting and the other for Candy sales.
Guys,
The launcher is tuned-up, the 007 Video Rocket is finished & tested, engines/igniters/wadding are purchased and the Authorities have OK'd our plan. So, we are in fine shape for this Saturday's rocket launch, 9AM at Hauke Park.
Here is the launch schedule for Saturday, January 27:
Below I describe what still needs to happen, please confirm by return email that you can deal down on your task...and if not, please designate & confirm a competent alternate from your Den, family, etc.. We want to be ready to launch at 9AM, so please shoot for arriving at 8:30AM. There are a few kids with a basketball deal at 10, so the front-end schedule especially must be crisp.
Hot Drinks - Dave Thelander - Bring hot cocoa, coffee, milk, sugar, stirrers, napkins & a garbage receptacle. Your call on a Starbuck's turnkey solution, thermoses from home or brewed onsite...Starbucks should be a piece of cake, and the Pack will reimburse you. Plan for about 60, use your own judgement on the adult/Scout mix.
Tables - Will Cannell - Use Cubmaster keys to score 3 short tables & 2 chairs from Scout Hall (hot drinks, check-in, repair), return after launch.
Check-In & Repair - Bruce Berlinger & Doug Gelbach - Work the tables to safety-check and prep rockets with engines/wadding/igniters. I'll bring some tools, Jackson (cc'd) will be there to help. Experienced Rocketeers James Redfern and Gina Fagan (also cc'd) will hopefully be there too...remember, No Rocket Left Behind. I'll also bring some launch cards to help keep whose rocket is whose straight.
Launch Control - Joe Hiti - Take rockets and load them onto the launcher, recycle rockets that don't launch to Check-In as needed. Confirm readiness with Range Safety team, manage countdown. Amaze crowd, impress your friends with launch of 007 Video Rocket (the finale)!
Range Safety - Israel Rosales - Ensure crowd is ready (safe) before OK'ing Launch. Help coordinate the flow from Check-In to Launch Control. Keep people cheerful & patient, steer anyone who needs it to a hot cocoa or coffee, help move anyone who's running out of time to the front of the line, warm up frozen little hands or heads with a spare pair of mittens or a hat.
Yours In Scouting,
Dave Lundgren
For those Webelos who have not yet earned their Readyman pin please plan to attend this.
First Aid Class by American Red Cross for partial fulfillment of Arrow of Light "Readyman" badge. (All Webelos welcome.)
Monday, February 12, 7-8 pm at Scout Hall.
Each scout should be accompanied by a parent if possible.
Hello Tiger Parents,
Mark your calendars:
Saturday, February 3rd at 2PM - bus stop cleaning - exact bus stop to be determined. This will take about an hour, and is part of our community service. I'll let you know when I know which bus stop we're cleaning. Bring old rags, buckets, green cleaner, rubber gloves.
Saturday, February 3rd at 6PM - Blue and Gold Dinner for parents and cubs at Scout Hall. This is a very nice, catered event, where we will recognize the boy's achievements. This year the event is under the expert direction of Barb Sobel - thanks Barb!
A couple of points about the Blue and Gold Dinner:
Skit - we are supposed to put on a skit for entertainment at the Blue and Gold Dinner. Usually these are made up on the spot and are pretty hilarious. I suggest the following theme: "Bigfoot chase". Maybe we can work out some details at the bus stop cleaning.
Cake - each den traditionally bakes and decorates a cake for the Blue and Gold Dinner. Would a mom be willing to bake a basic cake, and bring frosting/decorations so that the boys can do this at or after the bus stop cleaning?
Candy Sales - at the Blue and Gold Dinner you can purchase candy bars. We'll be selling those the weekend of February 10th, location TBD. This is a great activity that teaches basic salesmanship, professionalism and economics (i.e. making change) to the scouts.
Presidential Fitness Achievements - current fitness results are here: <http://www.mvpack34.org/files/tiger_presfitness06.xls> Please update me with any additional scores. Presidential Fitness patches will be handed out at the Blue and Gold dinner. Every boy gets a patch for participating.
Overall Tiger Cub Achievements - current achievements are here: <http://www.mvpack34.org/files/tiger_den_2006.xls>. Please update me with any additional achievements, and I'll get patches for the boys.
As always, you can find all of this information on the Tiger tab of the scout web site: <http://www.mvpack34.org>
