Hey Pack 34 Parents,
This is a reminder of upcoming Pack 34 events in November and December so you can mark your calendars. This is in addition to your individual den meetings.
We are going to do a bunch of fun physical activities so the scouts can earn Presidential Fitness Awards. Plus we'll be giving out awards, singing songs, and having fun. Make sure your scout's uniform is complete (tucked in shirt, hat, neckerchief and slide) because we are starting a marble collection for each scout in full dress. When the marble jar is full we are having an ice cream party. All uniform supplies are available at the Scout Store in San Rafael.225 West End Ave, San Rafael, CA 94901. 415-454-1081 The store is open until 7 pm on Tuesdays.
Den leaders to announce time and meeting place. This is the first half of our annual food drive. We drop off bags in neighborhoods throughout Mill Valley for food collection for the Marin Food Bank. Each year we collect thousands of pounds of food for the homeless and this is great example of what scouting is all about.
Den leaders to announce time and meeting place. This is the second half of the food drive. We pick up the bags full of food in the same neighborhood and deliver them to Scout Hall.
Activity TBD but I promise it will be fun.
Yours In Scouting,
Will

Hey Pack 34 Parents:
On October 30th, Sunday, 1-4 pm, Linda Mondot is offering an archery training for any Pack 34 parent wanting to become an Archery Safety Officer. The training is at Camp Tamarancho.
Our pack needs safety officers so that Pack 34 can (1) use the archery range during campouts, (2) schedule an afternoon of shooting sports (BB guns and Archery) at anytime during the year.
There is room for 6 parents; 2 parents have already signed up. Pls let me know ASAP!
Hope to see you.

Myra Chow writes:
Hi Everyone,
I know I have written to you all before about the pancake breakfast that the Middle School is putting on for hurricane relief (flyer attached). We have the community center for free and most of the food donated, so we are trying to get a good turn-out. I think all of you are involved with boy scouts and girl scouts, so if you have a way of communicating to other troops, can you please forward this flyer? If any troops want to sell tickets before the event, please let me know.
THANKS and sorry to bother you again about this...I have pancake on the brain.
All the best,
Myra
At our last pack meeting, the Cubs learned how to tie bowline and square knots.
Here's a copy of the the knot tying flyer that Dave Lundgren handed out.
And here is a great site to go to, with knot-tying animations!
Pack 34 Parents and Scouts,
Our October Pack meeting is this Wednesay, Oct. 12 from 7-8 pm at Scout Hall. I'm sorry for the conflict with Yom Kippur. In the future we'll do our best to avoid conflicts with holidays.
Please bring well-fed scouts in uniform and a check for $75 made out to Pack 34. The $75 covers registration, Boy's Life subscription and a percentage goes to national and Marin Scouts. If your son is new to Pack 34 you'll also need to fill out the registration forms which we'll have at the meeting.
Yours in Scouting
Will
