A guy I used to work with, James Lee, has set up a site called www.gi-bracelet.org to help raise money for military families affected by the injury or death of a breadwinner.
You may be experiencing "bracelet fatigue"; it seems like there's one for every cause, in every color. But I really like James' approach. All of the $5 cost of each bracelet goes to charities that support the families of fallen or injured troops. The cost of manufacturing the bracelets, administering the site, and shipping is $2.99 for the first bracelet and $1 for each additional bracelet.
Every transaction is completely transparent - if you make a purchase, you'll see the amount posted publicly on the Web site in minutes, and you can track where all of the funds go. The fact that everything is out in the open makes me feel comfortable that this isn't just a fashion or political statement, it's a real way to help people who have experienced firsthand the sacrifice of our wonderful troops. To find out more, visit www.gi-bracelet.org.
Hi Everyone,
Tomorrow night, Bill Ryder will bring the candy patches, Best Buy gift Certificates (make sure he has the name of the kids or families that sold 4 boxes), and leftover candy.
Note:
1) Candy sales was a family event. So, for every 4 boxes sold within a family, that family receives a Best Buy Gift Cert for $25. Could be a boy that sold all as well.
2) We have left over candy, about 20 boxes. Bill is bringing to the meeting. We are having a fire sale to get rid of it. Cost per box: $20 (our cost).
Thanks,
Kerry
P.S.: Remember, we ARE giving out achievements, segments... to all dens tomorrow night.

After all are in, we let them swim until 8:30, then we all go home.
Should be a great night for the boys.
Thanks,

Parents,
Park School collects used batteries in a blue bin next to the front door. Once a month, someone from our Pack should take those batteries or a good batch of them to the Hauke Park Firehouse.
It is an easy chore, you can literally pick them up when you are dropping off a child in the morning. Takes about 15 minutes a month for this good cause.
We are asking for a volunteer.
Please let me know asap.
Thank you!
Kerry
Update: Justin Schmidt will take care of this!

Saturday's Pinewood Derby Weigh-In will take place in the Multi-purpose Room at Old Mill School, between 5-7 pm.
The Pinewood Derby will take place at Scout Hall on Sunday, the 6th, at 12 Noon.
Sorry for the late changes, but the Pinewood Derby Team has had to jump through flaming hoops to make this annual tradition succeed. Pack 34 is so lucky to have such agile Scout leaders.
We are scheduled to do a service Project on Angel Island on Sunday April 3. It's daylight savings that morning so I said we'd be on the 11 am ferry from Tiburon and we'll do a 1-hour project with the Maintenance Staff.
Please get it on your calendars and tell your parents.
Right now I'm thinking after the project we'll bike around the island and BYO picnic.
I'm open to any suggestions.
-Will
Hi Everyone,
Please let Bill Ryder know who sold 4 or more boxes, per family. Remember, this is a family payoff. So, if your family sold 4 boxes, that scores you a Best Buy Gift Certificate. For each 4 that are sold, you get another.
Thanks, Kerry
Howdy Scorpions & Pack Leadership Colleagues-
Check out the first photos from the Scorpions' visit to Troop 1's Winter Camping extravaganza this weekend! All the while enoying the amazing hospitality of Troop 1, the Scorpions ate Chuck Fleisher's gourmet roast beef dinners, practiced ice rescue and pack-sled techniques with the Boy Scouts, ate popcorn in front of the fireplace while drying their socks and oh yeah...
...the Scorpions built the coolest igloo this side of the Arctic Circle.
Check out the photographic evidence....Scorpions Andrew, Joe and Jackson (and Dads) not only built this amazing 8' ceiling structure, but equipped the inside with tarps, pads, sleeping bags and candles until it was the nicest place to sleep this side of a Grand Hyatt. On Saturday night, they then proceeded to ACTUALLY SLEEP inside it. Truly, you must see the photos to believe it.
In addition to our great appreciation for all our Troop 1 hosts, special thanks go to Visionary Bob Henn who first locked on the idea of sleeping out overnight in the snow without a tent, Architect Ken who led us through the mechanics of building and relief builder Jim Simkalo who pitched in when another pair of tall, gloved hands were really needed. Truly, a team effort.
Yours in Scouting,
Dave Lundgren
