Hi Everybody,
Please pass this on to all the Cub parents.
Tomorrow, Thursday April 1st, we'll have a Earth Flag raising at Park School at 3PM. Cubs and parents should meet in front of Park School at 2:45PM. Webelos will do the raising as the flag pole is tricky to use. I'll assist to the best of my flag raising abilities.
Ro Rigney will invite the Park School community and the Mayor of Mill Valley.
It's good to be an Earthling. Lets show our appreciation with a good turnout tomorrow!
Best, Dave
Hi Everyone,
Please ask your parents to mark this on their calendars.
Bring your rags, simple green, gloves and buckets to the bus stops and let's shine em up, pick up trash.
Here is where each den should go:
Tam Junction/ Rosemont
Tigers & Bears
Miller Avenue close to Chevron
Hiti Wolves and Webelos
The Depot (on Sunnyside - facing Baskin Robbins)
Ryder Wolves and Kirley Wolves
You should spend approximately one hour there. More than that, the kids get restless.
Thanks!
P.S. this is a service project segment.
Hi everyone,
We are scheduled for an Achievement afternoon on March 28th. The place is Boyle Park(at the picnic tables) time is 2pm. We will set up stations to finish all the achievements and to practice the color guard for the April meeting. After that the kids can run like crazy around the park, there will be snacks, and if it rains the back-up place is the Shapiro’s house.

FYI, today is my last day with Yahoo email availability for two weeks due to some heavy travel.
So, there are three items that we need to make sure are covered while I am gone:

Hi Everyone,
Scout Hall on April 7 is not an option due to conflicts. I didn't foresee this, my apologies to everyone.
I have a confirmed place and date for this meeting and it will not change.
Day: Tuesday
Date: April 6
Place: Mill Valley Golf Clubhouse (same place as the arrow of Light)
Time: 7pm-8pm
Scouts leading activities: Wolves

Hi Everyone,
Please make sure your parents are aware that our Pack meeting is April 7. This has been on the calendar, but could have easily been missed.
The reason it is April 7 vs. 14th is because Easter break is the week of the 14th.
This meeting is at Scout Hall.
NOTE: you need to get your segment, awards..orders to Tish a week earlier.
Thanks! -Kerry

Here is a note from Ro Rigney. We are up to do this. Is there anyone that can help on April 1 at Park School?
Kerry,
The Earth Day Assembly Committee/Green Team parents, whom I am representing, would like the cubs to raise the Earth Flag on the flag pole in the front of Park School. We want to fly it during the entire month of April ("Earth Month"). It would be lowered at the end of the month on Fri, April 30.
Last year, Susan Sweet organized and worked with the boys. It might be best if you contact her about it. The best time to fly the flag would be right after school at 3pm on, if possible, Thu, April 1st. Because our flagpole is tricky, Susan used the older cubs. We would announce the ceremony and invite the entire school and parent community. I'd like to invite the mayor of Mill Valley this year.
Thank you,
Ro Rigney
Cub Scout Leader Specific Training is scheduled for Saturday, March 20th, from 10AM to 2:30PM at the LDS Church, 220 North San Pedro Road.
Here is the registration form.
BE PART OF A GREAT ADVENTURE !
Scout-O-Rama looks great. Our location (Hamilton Air Force Base Amphitheater) is outstanding and the weather is forecast to be excellent. We already have some great events like:
What should you do now?
$2.50 admission, $2.00 candy, $3.00 Roundtable coupon all for $2.00. Anyone not buying is losing money!
A lot of people did a lot of things, and I can't remember them all. So, if they aren't listed below, please let them know how much we appreciate their help.
I few people really came thru in the kitchen.
Hi Everyone,
This is one last plea to move the final candy boxes.
I have 13 boxes of candy at my house. Bill Ryder stepped up and said he will take 1 box.
That leaves 12 boxes to sell.
If we sell these at $1 (it will fund our Swim party for the May meeting at Scott Valley).
So, the parent would buy each box at $24. 24 Bars per box. Sell em at $1 each.
I would love to have each den commit to taking 3 boxes to sell to friends and families.
My original plan was to sell them this saturday at the grocery stores, but the girl scouts are going to be selling cookies and I hate to infringe on that.
So, if you can ask your familes to commit to taking some boxes, that would be great.
As a matter of fact. If I can get committents of 10 boxes, we will have met our budget for the party and I will give the last two boxes to girl scouts to use as "gift with purchase" - how is that for working together.
The race is on, let's move em this week.
I will personally drop off all candy to the families home.
Thank you!
Dear Leaders,
As you know our Arrow of Light Ceremony is Wed at 7PM with a new location...The Golf Course Club House. Please have all your boys wear their uniforms to school on Wed to honor the 5th graders that are graduating.
We will have each Den hand out awards, but the Arrow Of Light ceremony will be the activitiy. Our Den will perform the flag ceremony. I do respectively ask that you monitor your individual Den members, boys, parents and siblings to sit quitely for our final time with the Pack.
We intend to make the evening special and look forward to our graduation from Pack 34.

Right after the Rocket Launch, 7 of the Cobra Patrol piled into cars and headed to Northgate for the First Aid Meet.
When we got there, we sat around and talked for about 30 minutes before we had the flag ceremony. A few minutes later we got into action. Our Den made decisions what our roles should be and practiced them. After our practice we felt comfortable and waited our turn.
First we went to the station where an old man fell and was unconscious. We worked on him and each did our parts, but soon enough she said our patient was dead because we didn't check for any other wounds, and if he had another wound he could have died of too much bleeding. However, we still got 90%, which was pretty darn good for Webelos.
Next we moved to the station where we made a stretcher and carried a victim. Weren't we lucky that Travis was our victim because he is so light. That really helped us do a great on that station.
Next we moved to the hypothermia station. We brainstormed what we should do to help the patient in order to get a good score and make sure we didn't leave any steps out like before. As soon as the group in front of us was dons we got to work. We did fairly well, I think.
Next we moved to the "Lost Kid" station. We did extremely well, the best of al the Webelos and Boys Scouts that day because we asked all the right questions and then found him in the best time, 3 minutes and seconds.
The 5th station was the heat stroke and heat exhaustion one. It was interesting because we learned the difference between the two and what the symptoms were and how to take car of them.
The final station was a bus accident, which was the hardest station of all. Although we lost points because we didn't scout out the surrounding area first, we were one of the few groups who found and treated all the victims.
This was a major experience for me. It was also fun at the same time. I hope our younger Cub Scouts in Pack 34 will do this event when they are 2nd year Webelos.
Den Leaders,
Please notify your Dens that our end of year campout will be June 4-6 at beautiful Tamarancho in Fairfax.
Dave Lundgren is our perennial Quartermaster and camp scheduler, organizer...
Families may feel free to camp out Friday and Saturday nights or simply pick one of the two nights based on their preference.
I realize this is the weekend before school is out and there are always other activities such as swimming, baseball (although regular season will be over by this date), soccer... But, it is easy to do what I plan to do, go over after our games...
For those of us that went last year, we had a ball. We went fishing, went biking...
We may have other activities, but that info is yet to come.
Mark your calendars. See you there!
*Oh, and this is a pack funded activity. Leave your wallets at home! Bet you haven't heard that one in a while.
**We will need some help procuring food....so if you can help, let me know.

Pack 34
Bud Howlett from Council just called to see if any of our Den Leaders would be available to teach at the Cub Scout Leader Specifics training day.
It is March 20 from 10am-2:30 in San Rafael.
Not much to it, just follow a script...
*Note: this is opening day for Baseball.
If you are interested, let me know.
Thanks!
That stands for Basic Adult Leadership Outdoor Orientation. And it's a blast.
Hi Everyone,
Please make sure you get to your parents "right away" this week! We have a lot of moving parts on this one.

Everyone should know the following:
From our Committee meeting, we laid out responsibilities per Den. Please make sure you are covered on your duties (get all parents to help out, to make it easy for all). And if you have extra bandwidth, help out in other areas.
Please note that the food responsibility and trophy acquisition is wholly owned by Pack 34. All other items are jointly owned with Pack 1.
Below is the plan per the committee meeting:
Pre - March 6Den Leaders,
Please let your families know that their son should be 75% done with their achievements by next weeks meeting.
For example: Wolves have 12 achievements, so they should have earned their 3rd bead by next week. If they haven't, they will have some catch up to do.
Baseball/Softball and Swimming are starting now, so demands on everyone's time will be very high over the next couple months.
I would recommend that each Den leader set up a Mega Den meeting to knock out several achievements in one blow...in March if possible (opening day for baseball & softball is March 20, not sure on swimming). This would take alot of pressure off of everyone and give a chance to have a fun meeting. Weekend early mornings 9 or 10am or late afternoons, 3 or 4pm may be best for turnout.
Bridging is just 2 months away, so crunch time has arrived!
FYI, Kerry
* Note: please do not give out the bead until the individual scout has achieved it.
Den Leaders,
Suzan Sweet will be honored by the Marin Council at this dinner. It would be great if our leaders could make it.
I hope to make it, I am scheduled to be out of town that week, but trying to change it.
Here is the form to fill out for dinner, .... Let me know if you are attending. You don't have to pay for it, the council will deduct from our account.
Thanks!
Kerry
Hi Everyone,
We have 16 more boxes of candy left. We would like to get it sold right away, and as an incentive....I am throwing in a swim party.
If we can sell these 16 boxes of candy in the month of March, we will have a Swim Party for our May bridging ceremony at Scott Valley Swimming and Tennis club.
Here is the scoop on the contest:
If you are a power seller, get to work. We need you.
Otherwise, Saturday, March 13 I would like to have a sale in front of Safeway and Albertsons from 10am-11:30am.
I will take the Safeway location, and a group of scouts.
I need someone else to take the Albertsons location, and a group of scouts.
We will blow out the candy and then have an awesome family pool party/bridging ceremony!
Please rally your dens to come and help sell the candy, we need to move these boxes to fund the party.
Thanks!
Den Leaders,
We have some extra Hiking/camping patches if you organize your den for either. Let me know, I think I have about 15 left. First come, first served.
Thanks,
Kerry
