The Hike is on this Sunday, Light Rain or shine

Hi Everyone,

Dave Lundgren and Joe Hiti will be leading the hike this Sunday.  Critical info below.

Please check the website (that's here!) on Sunday if the weather is sketchy. At noon, we will posted the go/no go on the site so you don't have to call to find out.

  • 1 PM: Joe, Dave & incremental attending parents rally n + 1 vehicles to Stinson, rendezvous at the beach

  • 1:30 PM: Shuttle back to Pan Toll with n vehicles (6+ passengers/vehicle, will scale according to total attendance)

  • 1:45 PM: Meet and park at Pan Toll.  Departure of hikers for trail, food crew back to Stinson

  • 3 PM: Arrival of hikers, kudos for all, distribution of patches (very cool patches), hand 'em fresh hot dogs off the grill, beach stroll etc.

  • 4 PM: shuttle to PanToll

  • 4:30 PM: back to Mill Valley

  • Attire: Comfortable hiking or running shoes (NO sandals).  Hat, sunscreen, layers of clothes, water.

  • No need to wear scout uniform.  Although scout hats would be good.

  • This is a family affair, feel free to bring siblings, parents.

  • If you intend to bring a pet, please check first with the Pan Toll Ranger Station. I am not sure what the rule is.

  • Food is furnished, and paid for by the pack, do not bring food

  • If you want to bring trail snacks, NO PEANUT BUTTER or PEANUT PRODUCTS due to a child with a severe allergy.

  • Please arrive at Pan Toll no later than 1:30pm.  We depart at 1:45pm.

Lastly, please get me a headcount of total parents and kids for your dens by Thursday.  We have to buy the food and drinks.

Thanks!

Kerry

Scout Awards: Passing the Torch

Jean Jeffries writes:

It has been four years that I have been picking up awards at the Scout Store for all your dens, separating them into zip-lock bags to be picked up by you all on my front porch (all very high tech)... and now I'm happy to report Tish is ready and preped to take over this monthly job. Please email Tish with your March requests by Thursday March 4th so she can be sure all orders are filled (especially for the arrow of light ceremony for the Webelos). Tish will leave the baggies on her front porch to be picked up on Monday the 8th at 95 Sycamore Ave. If there is any change Tish will email you all.

It's been great!... and I think it takes about four years to get a handle on the different ranks/awards/requirements etc. !!!

See you all at the March 10th meeting,

Jean

BSA Lifeguard Registration NOW!

Hi CubScouters!

Here is the BSA Lifeguard Registration Form and Equipment List for the class beginning NEXT MONDAY! Time is of the essence so if you would please pass this onto your adults, I would appreciate it. Because most Cub Scout Adults do not attend Scout Resident Camp at Marin Sierra, Packs often do not have trained adult Lifeguards. This is the only BSA Lifeguard training offered outside of Marin Sierra so it is a golden opportunity to train Pack adults for the fun spring and summer water activities. Don’t forget that this will help you in using Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat when planning your troop Swimming and Boating trips!

If you need the form faxed to you or have any questions, please call or email me or Tim Wells.

I hope you all had a wonderful President’s Day Weekend!

Thank you,

Danielle Ing

Whoops, Segment Mistake

Hi Everyone,

I made a mistake.  Soap on a roap and Valentines for the redwoods weren't on the segment list.  Please do not order.

Thanks,

Kerry

Arrow of Light Logistics

Hello Parents of Pack 34,

On March 10 at 7pm we will have our very special “Arrow of Light” ceremony.  This is a graduation of our 5th grade Webelos.

Since it is a very special ceremony and the clubhouse is small, I am asking you to keep the siblings in the outer room of the clubhouse.  This will help us keep the noise level down and distractions to a minimum.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Cubs Candy Sales Off the Charts!

Hi Everyone,

We had a very successfull weekend of candy sales = $1,300!!  That the best ever.

We have 21 boxes of candy left.   Please email Lisa Yee and me if you want to reserve any of these boxes (first come, first serve).

Also, just a note on the prizes for selling.   I want to make this a family affair.  If you as a family sells 4 boxes, you win the zip zap.  It is completely cool for a sibling to help, mom or dad to sell some at work, two scout brothers to team up....   Let's sell out and have fun.

Let us know asap on the 21 boxes.  Valentines is Saturday, so this is a prime candy selling season.

Thanks!

Pinewood Derby Workshop, Sunday February 8th

Hello Den Leaders:

Please pass on to your scout families that Jim Simkalo from Pack 1 will be having a Pinewood Derby workshop at Scout Hall this Sunday Feb. 8th from 1-3PM.

This is a good chance to get a jump on your scout's cars, and learn more about building them if any are unfamiliar with concept.

Pack 34 could use a few point volunteers to help out, so please step up. Bringing tools, sand paper, etc., would be handy and appreciated.

Let's see some talented mechanical genius come through for Pack 34!

No Pack Meeting in February

Hi Everyone,

There will be no Pack meeting in February.

It is highly encouraged to have a Den meeting in February to capture achievements.  Once March hits, baseball season hits and it is tougher to make those achievements.

As an FYI, by the March meeting your kids should be 3/4 thru their achievements...at least. For example, Wolves should have earned their 3rd bead by this meeting.

* Note: please insure that the scout has earned a bead or segment. We don't want to award anyone that is close.  Completion is key.

Thanks!

Kerry

This is information being sent out today to parents in the District.  Barbara Young will have more information Tuesday.

The Humane Society and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area have confirmed the sighting of a mountain lion in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.  Please remind your children not to walk alone in GGNRA park areas and to walk with a parent or a group to and from school until we get further information.
