Update on Luminaries - Saturday, September 27th

Hello All,

This Saturday will meet at the Tam High, 3-5pm see below. Please bring a wagon if you have one. We will put sand fill paper bags into the wagons.

All Leaders, please have your boys at our Sept Service project this Sat from 3-5pm at Tam High football field in their Scout uniform. Once you enter ask at the registration booth for directions to the luminary booth. Meet there with a wagon if you can bring it. The boys will fill the bags with sand and place around the track with a specified spacing. Another set of boys will drop the (unlit) votives in the sand.

There are no soccer games this Sat, so it would be great to have a good showing.

This would also be a great time for registered Scouts to bring a friend that might be interested in Cub Scouts to check out one of our activities and then follow with the Pack meeting 2 weeks later.

See you there,

Joe Hiti

Pack Campout & Park School Movie Night

Den Leaders,

Well, best laid plans..........I learned at our picnic that the weekend we have made reservations at China Camp for our Pack Campout is also the same Fri as the Movie night at Park School.

Lisa has verified that it is too big of a cost to cancel. I know the 5th graders are scheduled to sell food at movie night. There may be others that choose to go and others that choose to camp. At any rate, we are booked for both nights at China Camp. We should have parents go out on Fri and stake our areas for Sat night regardless.

China Camp is also an excellent time to work as individual dens on requirements for their respective ranks, arrow points, or pins. It would be fun for each Den to share a skit in the outdoor theatre Sat night.

I am sure Kerry and Greg will give more information at our Pack meeting on Oct 10th.

Pack 34 Cookout—Change of Venue

Hi Den Leaders,

We recently found that Boyle has been secured by another group for the 18th. So, we have changed it to Sycamore Park. Same times.

Also, there are no rest rooms at Sycamore Park.

Lastly, if anyone has a Weber they can bring, that would be great because we are going to be short one or more grills.

Details on September 18 Picnic

Welcome back scouting families!

This year, instead of an end of year barbecue, we will be kicking off the year with a Welcome Back Picnic on Sept. 18 at Boyle Park from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Each family should bring their own main course to barbecue and drinks for themselves. Be sure to have any cooking utensils needed with you.

In addition, each family should bring one side dish, appetizer, salad or dessert to share with their den. Your den leader will tell you which of these to bring or you may call with your suggestion.

Paper products, charcoal and plastic utensils will be provided by the pack.

I will need one Wolf parent from each den to help set up at 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm, and 2nd year Webelos' parents will be in charge of the clean-up along with myself.

Feel free to contact me with questions or suggestions.

The Start of a New Year of Scouting

Hi Everyone,

I would like to make you aware of a couple dates.

  1. September 10 Pack Meeting. This has been POSTPONED.
  2. September 11: 911 remembrance and honoring our firemen/women and police men/women. At 8:10am on September 11, Pack 34 will meet in front of school at the Flagpole. The flag will be raised by our scouts, we will do a pledge of allegiance and a song. Teachers, students and parents are encouraged to attend. It will last about 10 minutes (first bell). Last year it was very emotional for everyone.
Please have your scout wear his uniform that day to school.
  3. September 18: Pack potluck at Boyle park. More info on time... will come from your Den Leaders. This is a good way for all the families to get together, have some food and fun. It is also a good chance for our new families to be welcomed to the pack. If you know of families that are considering scouting or they are just curious, invite them. We will have some things there to show off some of what scouting is all about.

You will receive more formal information soon from your respective den leaders. I just wanted to make sure you have the early dates on your calendar.

See you on the 11th.

Thanks,
Kerry Huffman
