Stinson Beach Cleanup

On Saturday, July 5 we will assist the Park Service by helping to clean up trash and debris at Stinson Beach. This is a Pack 34 annual community service project.  The cleanup usually takes no more than an hour.
It is also an excuse to get to their early enough to find a parking spot and spend a day on the beach...
We are to meet at the Stinson Beach Park main parking lot at 9am. Pat O'Boyle will be heading up the effort. For planning purposes, please email Pat ( Ptrckobyl@aol.com) if you ARE coming, so he can get a headcount by Wednesday, July 2.
Stinson Park Maintenance will provide latex gloves and trash bags.
Thanks,
Pat O'Boyle and his trusty cleanup sidekick Duncan Schmidt

Pack 34 Fisherman Enjoy Fishing Derby

Scouts were treated to a wonderful day fishing on the Pier at the Marin Rod and Gun Club for the Marin Council Fishing Derby. This is a private club and pier, and we were fortunate to have the opportunity to enjoy their facilities. It was a great turnout for Pack 34 with Wolf Den 007 particularly well represented. The Hitis and Ryders were the fisher kings landing several smelt, and may have been in the hunt for a Derby prize. All scouts attending completed their requirements for a fishing segment and the Fishing Belt Loop.

No fishing trip would be complete without the obligatory Fish Tale: Sammy Huffman had a huge fish hooked on a light trout pole, which nearly spooled
all the line off the reel. After several minutes playing the fish, it
surfaced, only to have the leader break. It looked like it could have been a sand shark or stripped bass. Tough break Sam! And remember: The worst day fishing is better than the best day working. Good Job Pack 34.

This will be a fun one. Den Leaders, please have final head counts (adults and kids) by June 12th so we can plan food and equipment. We'll be looking for lots of help over the weekend so plan on pitching in. Activities will include the BBgun and archery range Saturday morning, canoeing, swimming and fishing at the waterfront Saturday afternoon, and great food and campfire in
the evening. If its nice out will do a star hike Saturday night. Scouts
bring your bikes and helmets. Due to the overwhelming interest (or tentative response is 70 people!) we'll be limited to just scout families. Please be aware there is no alcoholic beverages or smoking permitted at Camp Tamarancho. More Details to come. Looking forward to seeeing everyone.

Our New Site

Watch this corner of the newsletter for reviews of movies, videos, books or other family entertainment, from a Scouting perspective. All parents and scouts should be alert for good examples, then jointly write a tip or review for all to enjoy. Stories with themes relating to current Pack activities will help reinforce the life lessons we are teaching our boys.
