Raft Trip in Three More Days

Hello Pack 34 Rafters,

Three more days until we meet at the Whitewater Voyages River Park Camp Ground. Here's the map.

Some key things to remember:

  • No peanuts of any form. The pack will provide all of the food as listed in previous email.
  • No alcohol
  • Smile, relax, and have fun.
  • Participate
  • Fill out WW Voyages release of liability and bring Saturday
  • Scouts to bring mess kits with their names on all items. Drinks will be available in large cooler jugs. Scouts will need to use the plastic cup in their mess kit.
  • Bring something to sit on.

When:

  • Arrive Saturday 2pm or so, August 27 (I will be there probably be there around noon to check it out.)
  • Raft Sunday 10am - 3pm, August 28

Where:

  • See attached 3 page map
  • Park in main parking area and check in at Camp store, see map on page 3. Bring gear down hill to beach and set up camp. Apparently they have carts we can use to haul your things to the camping area. It's only about 100 yards.
  • We will be camping at the "Sandy Beach" area. See map on page 3.

What to bring for Rafting:

  • Swimsuit or shorts
  • Protective Footwear
  • Tennis shoes that lace tightly; wetsuit booties; rugged sandals that securely strap (e.g., Tevas, Alps.) Bare feet and thongs are not safe!
  • Strap to secure sunglasses/eyeglasses
  • Waterproof sunscreen with high SPF
  • Do not apply sunscreen to forehead... it will run into your eyes when you get splashed with water…and hurt!
  • Hat or visor
  • Chinstrap recommended for hats.
  • Water bottle
  • We provide community water jugs in rafts from which you can refill your bottle.
  • Waterproof camera & film
  • Expensive equipment is not recommended.

See you at the River,

Captain Joe
