Here’s info from the B.S.A. (which is also on your form):

What is Family Fiesta?

Family Fiesta is a family camping experience for all Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts and their families. The purpose of this camp is to introduce Cub Scouts and their families to Camp Tamarancho and to the type of activities they will experience in summer camp. Most of the events at Family Fiesta are sponsored and run by Boy Scout troops. Therefore, the Cubs will get to see some of the exciting opportunities they will have to look forward to when they become Boy Scouts.

Theme & Activities

This year’s theme is Martian Mania. Cubs who come dressed in their favorite space alien, sci-fi character or astronaut will get a special prize. There will also be fun contests & many surprises. For the activities, Scouts and their families will cycle through various stations throughout the day. These include: BB Gun Shooting, Archery, Games, Obstacle Course, Hiking, Camp Crafts, Camping Demonstrations and much, much more! There will be a campfire program in the evening after dinner which will include skits, songs, raffle & lots of good fun!.

Camping

Overnight camping is available to families either Friday night, Saturday night or both. There is a limit to how many people can camp, so make your reservations early. No reservations for specific campsites will be accepted. Every effort will be made to place Packs in the same campsite where space allows. Ground fires are not allowed! Bring your own charcoal grill or propane stove for cooking. All food should be brought by each family. See Meal Option section for further info.

Parent Participation

Running an event of this size requires a substantial amount of volunteer help. One adult from each family must volunteer for a minimum of one hour on Saturday. Choose a first and second choice from your area of interest on the registration form. You will choose a time slot during the registration and check-in process.

Fees and Registration

Registration is by family—not by Pack. The registration fee is $10.00 per person over 5 years old. Send in the attached form by Friday, April 16. Optional meal ticket is available for $8.00 per person over 5 years old. Meal tickets will not be available for purchase after April 16 (sorry, no exceptions). The cost for individuals who register on Friday night, April 30, or Saturday, May 1, is $15.00.

Check-In

Check-in will be 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday night and will resume at 7:30 a.m., Saturday morning. The weekend’s fun and activities will begin with an opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude on Sunday at Noon.

Vehicles and Parking

There are only two campsites with parking available. Because of our desire to protect the camp roads from erosion, access to all other campsites is restricted to authorized camp and staff vehicles only. However, two vehicles per Pack may make one trip each to carry in major equipment and supplies to the campsites between Sunrise and Upper Eagle. Vehicles may not be parked at any campsites that do not have parking lots. Personal gear must be hiked to the sites. Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and assistance in protecting the roads. Vehicles for people in campsites without parking lots will park in the main parking lot. For safety reasons, all vehicles in any parking lot must be backed into their parking slots. Please attempt to car pool with friends to limit the number of vehicles in camp.

Meal Option

For the small fee of $8.00 per person, a meal ticket can be purchased that includes Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast. Note—All other meals are on your own. Meal reservations must be received in the office no later than April 16. These meals are available only to those who make reservations (no exceptions). The meals are served in Murray Lodge in two shifts. Meal tickets will be given out at check-in to those who have purchased them. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in camp.

Refund Policy

No refunds of registration fees will be made after Wednesday, April 28. No refunds of meal fees will be made after April 16. Refunds may be requested in writing from the Marin Council office prior to the above dates. Fees will not be prorated for those who start late on Saturday or partially refunded for those who must leave before the program is finished.
