Scouts were treated to a wonderful day fishing on the Pier at the Marin Rod and Gun Club for the Marin Council Fishing Derby. This is a private club and pier, and we were fortunate to have the opportunity to enjoy their facilities. It was a great turnout for Pack 34 with Wolf Den 007 particularly well represented. The Hitis and Ryders were the fisher kings landing several smelt, and may have been in the hunt for a Derby prize. All scouts attending completed their requirements for a fishing segment and the Fishing Belt Loop.
No fishing trip would be complete without the obligatory Fish Tale: Sammy Huffman had a huge fish hooked on a light trout pole, which nearly spooled
all the line off the reel. After several minutes playing the fish, it
surfaced, only to have the leader break. It looked like it could have been a sand shark or stripped bass. Tough break Sam! And remember: The worst day fishing is better than the best day working. Good Job Pack 34.
